Introduction

This small burial ground is thought to date to the 17th century. It is located on the top of a hill above the village of Lumphanan alongside is what is believed to be the remains of an Iron Age hill fort. There are no known definate connections with any church or chapel here, although a chapel has been suggested. The sub-rectangular remains excavated in the 1960s are the remains of two mausoleums, connected with the burial ground.
