Lorelle House, Former Baptist Church

Construction materials: Stone (sandstone) - Used for walls; Slate - Used for roof;

This is another ex-Baptist church in Eyemouth. Site 10147 was the first church (1807-1836) and a modern one was built in 1989 (site 10148). This Baptist Church was in ecclesiastical use from 1858 to 1879. It has sandstone walls and a slate roof, and is in good condition. It is no longer in ecclesiastical use and has been converted into flats. Its modern name may be St. Ella House (it is in St. Ella Street). It is not clear from the information available if the present building is the original church building, or if a new building was erected on the site. Researched by G. Binnie, compiled by J. Dowling, 17/11/03.
